由来：英语单词和汉字的形声、会意等不一样，英语单词的“发明”，主要有三种方法：派生、合成、转化。 而“History”就是合成方法的一个例子：“History”，简单的看，不难发现，它可以拆分成“his”和“story”2个单词。 其中，“his”=“他的”，“story”=“故事”。两个单词结合成为新词“Hisstory”，继承两词的原意，即为“他的故事”，或是“男性的故事”。
后来，在古代的男权社会，男性的影响大一些，在社会上占据主导地位，人们将“Hisstory”一词的词意从“男性的故事”扩大为“人类所经历之事”，“男人”的经历就代替了“人类”的经历。
